Heininger PortablePET Twistep® – The Innovative Pet Stair Step for SUVs.

BONUS: FREE GROUND SHIPPING TO All 48 CONTINENTAL STATES (Alaska & Hawaii require additional fees)

Twistep is an instant, multi-use step that helps your dog enter and/or exit the vehicle. It attaches to the hitch receiver of your vehicle and stores under the bumper when not in use.

Twistep provides your pet with lower-impact, lower-stress access into and out of a vehicle. Repeated jumping into and out of a vehicle can aggravate or even cause serious conditions like arthritis, leg injuries, back sprains and other spinal damage. And lifting a large dog into a vehicle isn’t easy!

Twistep helps dogs of all ages. Young dogs can avoid unnecessary stress on growing hips and elbows.  Active dogs can appreciate a step up at the end of a long day of hiking, hunting and other outdoor activities.  Twistep provides older dogs, who may suffer from arthritis and who can no longer enter a vehicle on their own, with a much-needed assist.

The TWISTEP fits most SUV's. We have another model made specifically for a pick-up truck.

Note: The following vehicles require the TWISTEP Extension Bracket (item #3053) to provide additional clearance for the spare tire:

  • 2006 - Present Chevrolet Tahoe
  • 2006 - Present GMC Yukon
  • 2006 - Present Cadillac Escalade
  • 2006 - Present Nissan Pathfinder
  • 2014 - Present Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • 2018 - Present Ford Expedition

A minimum of 16” ground clearance is required from the lower-edge of the receiver.  It does not fit a 2019-Present Subaru Ascent and most mini-vans due to either the bumper configuration and/or ground clearance.

Lousy product. Lousy service.

I have never once written a negative comment on any product, but here we are. And it is well-deserved. Good luck if you live in a northern climate where they use de-icer on the roads. Can I give the Twistep zero stars? First one rusted shut in 8 months. Wouldn’t budge, and the lock bolt wouldn’t move. Had to resort to a cutting torch just to remove it from my truck. Called the company to find out if this was a regular problem, and the rep interrupted and talked over me and then basically dismissed me. He did, however, say they had shifted to “new” materials and convinced me to try again. I’m such an optimistic sucker. Six months later new new one is rusted solid and I’m back to the cutting torch. Lousy product. Exceptionally lousy service. I keep my truck clean — not a spot of rust anywhere. But these Twisteps are very poorly made for the application, and the company doesn’t seem to much care. A friend had one that we cut off her rig 12 months after purchase. So. Avoid at all costs. There are cheaper options from better companies that work far better. Wish there was a zero star option, with a negative star for customer service.

This is my second Twistep and I love them. Perfect for our dogs to use to protect their limbs entering and exiting our SUV. Great Products!!!!

Twistep to save on (human) healthcare costs

I've surgery upcoming and will be limited for a few weeks in how much I'm able to lift. My friend uses a Twistep with her dog and recommended it to me.

My Border Collie was used to the Twistep on my friend's car, using it to sit with her dog and get cookies and he took to the one on our car in no time.

The product is sturdy and was trivial to fit (older Ford Escape) and I'm pleased that my dog and I are started using it now to get into the rhythm of using it.

Excellent product

I have a 140 lb English Mastiff, who on her own, can only put her front legs up into the back of my SUV. I then had to lift her back end to get her into the car. I installed the Twistep and it only took a couple of times for her to figure it out. Now she steps right up into the back of the car with no back-breaking work on my part. She also exits just as easily. Definitely get the locking mechanism as well. Installation was a single bolt and the lock attaches to the end of that bolt and is a one person, 2 minute job. Highly recommended.
